Tourist vs Religious Icon
As I travelled my way between Christchurch and Queenstown I stopped briefly at the Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo. I am not a religious person and do not subscribe too any such thoughts; however, I do always enjoy the architecture that goes into churches. The fact they're are a place of worship is insignificant to the devotion to those who put in the effort to build them. It matters not if it is grand or small, someone built it with love and passion and that is what makes them great because they have character.
When I arrived I couldn't believe the popularity of this place, I mean I knew it would be popular but there were several bus loads of tourists swarming the grounds and I had to wonder what the builders of the church would think of it now?
As there were so many tourists, myself included, I had think of something a little different to remove them from my scene. The clear option was to use the Nisi 10stop, but it wouldn't be enough to remove all traces of thes tourists... so I took a punt on using a 2nd 10 stop. I had a damaged spare in my box of filter tricks so I placed it in the holder taped up the edges and have a few go's and trying to get that right expo... No reference guides used here, cos not to many people think about using a 20stop... and why would they.
It did take a little cleaning up, and no tourists were visible nor harmed in the making of this photograph, a just a little bit of time, love and passion much like the subject itself.
